Windgarth in the Winter
Windgarth in winter is magical, when snow covers the fields and coats the branches of the trees, turning the area into a fairyland of white. In the winter one can ice skate or sled or ski, either downhill or cross country, to one's heart's content and then return to Windgarth for a relaxing evening with some hot chocolate by the downstairs stove on the porch overlooking the lake - or if you rent only the upstairs, in a comfortable chair with a fine view of the lake, from almost every room. Sometimes there are thousands of geese on the lake, and it is never too cold to walk down the road to the Point, to look at the sun on the water or the stars at night. It is also a good time of year to visit the many wineries, galleries or Amish shops and antique sales in the area.
